Study Tips and Strategies

Time and Place

Everyone should have a designated space where they study and work at a specific time.

A designated space could help study better, make sure that it is away from distractions and comfortable. It should inspire you to work.

A specific time should be what works for you, this could be in the mornings or late at night, just don’t over exert yourself.

Routine

Make sure to study every day, "Every little bit counts"

Set out some time maybe 1 or 2 hours daily  further away from exams, but as it gets closer you should be studying more.

Prioritise your work, even though you are the start of the game, one training session could be missed for you to study and keep your grades up.

Plan and Organise

Set timers to remind you to study if you are forgetful.

Create a Calendar as for what subjects to study on what days, to organise yourself and to set yourself on the right track.

SET TIME LIMITS, don’t spend too much time on one subject that you already understand completely focus on the weaker subjects.

Work Smart and Hard
Plan and Organise

Create study guides by topics. Test yourself and answer with complete sentences

Present or teach the topic, pretend to teach the topic to someone else in your own words so you can get a deeper understanding of the topic.

Create examples that relate to your experiences. This is so that it is easier to remember

Studying is not always the same. Studying intensely is very beneficial, studying in bursts of around 30-45 minutes.

Don't "cram", don't study just the night before or even 2 nights before. Space out the time that you study. You should ideally study the night of or the night after you learn the topic to cement the idea in your mind.

Food and Rest

The Brain and Body are linked, so get comfortable. Don’t wear anything that could cause distractions, such as itchy clothes or anything stiff.

Food and Hydration. Make sure you stay healthy. Food is essential to studying efficiently and effectively. Make sure you are eating the right types of food because some foods could also hurt you. Eat foods that give you energy try to avoid the short boosts of energy, because those could cause you to crash in the end.

Take Breaks, Although study time is important don’t forget to take breaks, working on a topic stressed or for too long could decrease your performance. Different sources recommend different things, but you should take around a 5-15 min break every hour. and a longer break of around 30 min every 2-4 hours. The time should vary person to person and it also is dependent of the task at hand.

What to do

Eat a good meal the night before. A good meal could help you understand the topic better.

Get comfortable in your designated place of study. This could help you study better and keep the information in your head.

Aim of comprehension of the topic and not solely memorisation. If you understand the information then you understand and answer similar questions while if you "swat" then you will only understand it in that situation.

Get a good night’s sleep. Rest is one of the best things for your brain, Done overexert yourself, take a rest.

"You got this!"
