Managing Online Learning

In light of the ongoing pandemic and distant learning protocols, online school is the new reality for students not only in Jamaica but around the world. Getting used to this can be a struggle but we are are here to help with advice, tips and support!

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Try not to panic- both the national and global authorities are doing their best to put an end to this pandemic.

Stay up to date with the news but use the right sources and follow the orders of the government and only be guided by trustworthy news sources as this will prevent panicking and anxiety attacks.

Reading and writing are a great way to express your thoughts as they will not only help reduce your stress levels but will help you feel collected, organized and focused.

Get enough sleep (around 8-10 hours) as this will help you to function at your best and continue to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Keep in contact with friends and family as this will keep you socially active and prevent the negative impacts of quarantine on your mental health.

Take breaks from the media if feeling overwhelmed

Although we are now living an online life, try to limit your screen time by taking breaks from electronic devices a couple of times every day.

Try your best to maintain your physical health by going online and doing at-home workouts. Try doing yoga or meditating as they will improve both your physical and mental health.

Grabbing healthy snacks will not only aid your physical health but will also allow you to concentrate while working.

Productivity

Productivity

Take up new activities (for example cooking, baking, painting etc.) to destress and keep productive.

Try to learn a new skill or practise an activity you do not normally have time to practise- turn this disadvantageous situation into an advantageous one.

While taking breaks from work or electronics try to do creative activities such as drawing, dancing, playing an instrument etc.

Focusing on School

Focusing on School

Make a timetable- try putting it in your room so you see it as soon as you wake up which can be motivating to get out of bed and keep you track throughout your day online.

Make a to-do list- being able to check off things from the list is a very fulfilling feeling so this motivates you to remain productive while reminding you of your tasks/assignments.

Learning will never stop so maximize your potential as a person and student in this time

Pay attention and participate in your online classes.

If you feel overworked do not be afraid to express your feelings to your teachers.

Stay Home! Stay Productive! Stay Safe!
